2015 S3 new front Rotors and pads needed at 42,000 miles?
In for an oil change and my mechanic for 10 years who I have always trusted says my rotors are worn more than my pads? I have never heard that before.
Cost with oil change is 575.00 cash. My brake sensor did not go on and my brakes feel fine although maybe not as well as when I fist got the car with 35,000 miles on it. Just wondered what other S3 folks experience is with front brake pad and rotor wear. I drive pretty hard, have know idea how the other two owners drove it. The dealership by me didn't say I needed them when they did a full inspection when I bought the car or when I brought it in for inspection a few weeks ago so I find it odd. |

Pads are about 50% worn which is typical for my previous cars. The car is lightly loaded and exercised about 5-10% of the time on local mountain roads, the rest of the time it runs with the herd in small city suburban traffic. |
Thanks I went ahead with it, may be a bit premature but I trust my guy, he said the pads had been replaced once before but not the rotors hence why the rotors were more worn, I did not ask him for rotor measurements. I drive down the west side highway in Manhattan so stopping is very important :)

I've got 52K miles on my S3. Still original rotors and brake pads.
Not sure about the rotors but the pads were at 6 mm in the front and 5 mm on the back. That was 2 mos ago before I went to stage 2. Planning to replace next year. |

Did you go with APR or someone else? I am hoping to do that next spring with my guy who recommends United Motor Sport ECU http://unitedmotorsport.net/products...productId=1381 |

Cool, you can then upgrade your brake package now that you went stage two.

Agree. OEM works fine. I don't see a need to upgrade unless you are planning to track the car. More than likely replace rotors IF needed and pads.
On the Tune I went with APR. I had stage 1 for over a year. Stage 2 gives you additional Torque and some marginal power but I dint't noticed much as I did when I went from stock to Stage 1. Stage 2 enhances the exhaust note beautifully. |
Ok good to know thanks, I figured some folks do track there cars when going to a stage 2 but not necessarily.
