Default 2016 A3 oil change

Can a fluid extractor be used to remove the oil in a 2016 A3? Will it reach to the bottom of the pan? I don't want to mess around with the replaceable plastic oil plugs in the pan.

I have used a fluid extractor on my 2016 2.0 and it went very well and removed all the old oil as far as I can tell. Seamless oil change using this method and I've used it on almost all the other vehicles I maintain.

So, I've only had mine for ~4k miles and don't know about this yet: The oil plug is plastic...?

my understanding was that the plug and pan are plastic, and the plug is not reusable.

The car is designed for oil extraction. Mercedes has been that way for years already.

I use a Mityvac fluid extractor on my 2015 A3 and it works very well.

Default Oil filter removal

I changed oil on 2016 A3 with 2.0 engine. However, I couldn't get the oil filter out of the canister. Any tricks to getting it out? I've never changed oil on car with canister so didn't want to damage anything. Thanks.

Extractor works great. This is the one I use. Never had an issue and can gauge how much you are extracting so you can tell if you are not getting it all.

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone having an issue getting the filter element out of the housing? should just be able to give it a little tug and it comes right out.
