2017 S3 p+ deal feedback

hello to the forum...im in 15 Golf R and have 2 months left on my lease...with the 18 R delays, i visited my local audi dealer to look at the S3..and they have only 1 2017 left @ 51,190 msrp w/tech package, black optic dynamic package, b&o, red calipers, resonator delete. Sale price is discounted to 43,500 and adj cap cost is 45,193 after fees on a 0$ drive off sign and drive. Dealer also gives reimbursement check for last 2 payments on R. With a .00007 mf and 49% rv on a 10k/yr 36month the payment is 563 plus tax. I thought I had a winner here but reading thru the forums seems many paid/pay less...altho some paid more? Any feedback or advice is appreciated.

What someone else pays for month for their car has to do with the programs that existed when they bought their car.....what you will get depends on programs today/this month. I doubt many with a 17 car are paying significantly less than that with getting cash back in their hand (ie, making your last lease payments for you, and true $0 out of pocket. They are not cars that lease particularly well because of the residuals, but at least their residuals are realistic.

No matter how you slice it, you're getting $7500 off the car, or 15% ish + your last 2 lease payments, making the net discount even higher.

Appreciate the feedback...i feel its a good deal...but saw on here and different forums people boasting of 480 sign and drive with 0 down, or 525 with 12k/36 which made me second guess.....this is the last 2017 in my state tho so i suppose i have less leverage now....unless i want to travel for another 1, or pay a much higher MF on the 18 - this seems to be the best price ill get if i want to join the audi family.

No worries

Don't believe everything you read as gospel - I've seen people post here about discounts they received that aren't even close to reality. Most commonly though, people's definitions differ. Is that $480 + tax? Is that $525 really sign and drive, or was there some upfront costs? What was the MSRP of the vehicle, what was the price they paid, what was the residual % and money factor - which is based regionally (though I doubt that has changed much), did they get a loyalty discount or other Audi program accommodation?

The MF is base rate, and the RV is spot on for January. It's a very generous discount on top of that

Get something else. The S3 is a upscale 4 door equivalent to the Golf-R. Not really that different to what you have now. Be open to other brands other than VAG.

Exactly why Im here my friend. My VAG progression from an 08 Jetta -> ‘11 GTI -> ‘15 R and now an S3. Everytime I test drive and shop other brands. Need a 4 door, and this time around tested BMW 340i, Alfa’s Giulia, Infiniti q50 red sport, and even gave the Kia Stinger a serious look. Can easily say i would of taken the 18 Golf R before any of them if it was available here - but its not. Therefore S3 wins for my taste.

My two cents is that its a good deal, and it not like the R, sorry, but I did a long test drive comparo and they are simply not the same car.

If you want an S3, that's huge savings... hopefully you like the color.

One thought contrary, the 2018 has a 7 speed DSG... I like the extra gear, but not at the tune of $5k

Memphis Raines,

These are my numbers: 2017 S3, about 51,000 msrp, 1500.00 total drive off, included in that is the first payment. 3 year lease, 10K miles per year, pay 552.00/month INCLUDING tax. In Los Angeles, tax is 9.5%. I got mine in January of 2017, about a year ago. I don't know the mf, rv at that time.

I think you can go better that 563.00 plus tax. Good luck! And as much as I like the Golf R, the S3 is much nicer IMO.

You don't know the MF and RV...which is what determines your lease price along with residual :) Your residual alone was higher than his quoted one is now I'd bet.

His quoted pricing is base rate - aka, no markup at all. You can't achieve better than base rate. Residual is what it is....it's not negotiable either.

i appreciate your feedback....but i tried the best i could...deal was not getting better, and there is no other 17 S3 left in my state. However, your information kind of confirms that I did get a good deal after all lol. Here is why:

January 2017 MF and RV on a 10k/36: .00040 56% ......based on that my adj cap cost of 45193 with a true 0 drive off sign and drive gets me a payment of 488.60 before tax, and 517.92 tax included (6% where I am). This doesn't even factor in that I am getting a check for my last 2 payments (~1k), and my true sign and drive means the dealer paid my first payment for me - so I only have 35 payments left. This means i negotiated a good OTD (adj cap cost) price on the vehicle - the only negotiable aspect. BTW your deal was a good one too....pretty sure last January I wouldn't of to the same type of discount - so its all relative.
