Hello Audi World,

I am expected to be an owner of a 2018 A3 saloon in a couple of months. I am from Sri Lanka and Audi Sri Lanka only offers a 1.2L petrol engine with an output of 110 BHP (81KW). If I do purchase this, it will be my first entry to Audi, so, I am super excited but I want to be well informed about my purchase.

I notice that in most parts of the world, the Audi A3 saloon comes with the entry level 1L petrol engine. I cannot find any where that offers a 1.2L engine. Even then, the IL seems to have more BHP as compared to the 1.2L, even with the Q2.

Any clue as to what the case maybe? Audi Sri Lanka cannot offer an explanation as to why they have a 1.2L. I am concerned whether this car comes fitted with a dated engine or is this something country specific?

Given a ludicrous tax system, anything beyond 1.2L for an Audi becomes unaffordable to many, so going above this engine capacity is not an option for me.

Any information on this would be super helpful to me to get an idea on what I may end up with.
