2018 RS3 US Model = Forced Panoramic Roof?

Yes, I agree, if they do it the extent of customization that Porsche provides. But Audi doesn't need to go that far. They could make some small changes that really align with what customers want.
Why does 2018 S4 not have black optic package?
Why does 2018 RS3 not have power seat as an option - when the S3 does?
To the OP's point, why make sunroof mandatory?
Basic customer options like this could go a long way for the brand.

I take gripe that the facelift 8V forces that ugly S-line design as standard. There's nothing to like about that ugly lip shaped air intake surrounding the front. A shame the only way to not get that would be to get a Premium A3, but then you are locked out of any great options like the Technology package or the Aluminum Style package which makes the car look like a luxury car.
Why is there no Premium trim S3? This is an option that would probably tie the best of both worlds if it existed, starting at $38K.

I laugh at you guys that bitch about Audi USA not offering enough creature comforts and individual customization. Have you ever tried building out a car with most other brands? It basically all or nothing with most cars.
The fact the new RS3 is even available to us is quite frankly surprising IMO. Ultimately no one is forcing anyone to go out and buy one. If you don't like the way it looks or the fact it will come with a sunroof and that is going to impact your track times somehow, there are plenty of other choices out there.

If you are looking for the most performance then you will want a TT RS and not an RS 3. These are two very different cars with a very different purpose even though they share the same powertrain. The TT is lighter (130kg), has a lower center of gravity, and is more rigid. The $10k price difference buys you a significant increase in performance, and then you can also get your fixed roof.

I actually have to pass on the RS3 due to no delete option. I was too tall for the S3 and all the earlier shots I saw of the RS3 were without the sunroof. I was hoping without the sunroof I might have just enough headroom to be comfortable since in the S3 my head brushed the roof.
I figured it would be a replacement for my Golf R, but the sunroof means it has the same lack of headroom as the S3.

It is all about where the height is.
I am only 6'0" but broad shouldered and all torso with shorter arms and legs. Even in the Golf R I have to recline more than I like to not to hit the ceiling. Where I sit now I have two fingers between the top of my head and the ceiling and this is with the seat all the way down. In the S3 I had to recline even further and then I was was wedged against the B pillar. Also in the S3 if I looked left I was staring mostly at the top of the door frame. It would be the same way in the Golf R but due to the hatch it looks like the line from A to B slopes up more where the S3 is more horizontal.
I took it for an extended test drive and never could get comfortable even though I loved the seats.
