So I noticed today that there was a new map update for 2017 but it will not let me download the new map. There is a message saying "Not available without licence renewal". I contacted Audi support and they told me that there is a 5 free map update limit per VIN and if I wanted to update the map I would have to have it installed by the dealership.

Has anybody else encoutered this? This is very disappointing if it is true.

Yes, that's in the T&Cs for Audi connect. There is a limited number of free map updates. I thought it was 6, but I guess it's 5. I read that a while back, but I don't remember where. It should be somewhere in the contract agreement.

Thank you for confirming. Kind of a bummer, considering I bought the car CPO and only updated the map myself once.

They are supposed to be every 6 months.
