I'm not a fan of chrome, so I think it is a must on every car regardless of color.

While I don't feel that strongly (as you do), I *DO* feel that way about the chrome mirrors. I rather have them in the same color as the car OR black, but not chrome (I realize Audi is making this part of the distinctive RS3 model but it doesn't work for me personally).

I'm enjoying reading everyone's opinions; they are as varied as I expected.

take it from someone that spent 4k converting their car from chrome to BO.

the AO on the other hand is sexy.

Just for the record, for those that are calling it "chrome", the "Alu-Optics" on my S4 is more "chrome"-like, however, the new Alu-Optics on the RS3 is not chromed at all. You have to see it in person, it is very flat with no shine like chrome. I don't like shinny chrome either. Alu Optics is far from it.

Yeah I don't know why people are referring to it as chrome as for the side view mirror housing, it has never been "chrome" but an aluminum-like flat finish. My first S4 many years ago had the same thing. I don't think there's anything different about the new RS3 in terms of the color.

I prefer Black Optics on any color of the RS3 because I'm not a fan of the way the rear diffuser looks with Alu Optics.

I could go either way with the S3.

I think the cars that have the Black Optics look a lot more aggressive

Fully agree with this. Daytona and Alu on its way. It would look way too batmobile if it was any different.
