Default :: ECS Tuning :: NEW!! 8V A3/S3 ECS Street Shield Aluminum Skid Plate

Did you know your oil pan is plastic?

The belly pans provided for modern Audi's have always appeared to be flimsy, cost-cutting parts.

Many enthusiasts have even chosen to run their cars without this protective cover entirely due to cracks, and broken pieces. This decision, however, ignores the unfortunate reality that the belly pan protects several critical engine and drivetrain components.

ECS has a much more sensible solution – The Street Shield Skid Plate. Features corrosion resistant, air-ventilated, 3/16” thick 5052 Aluminum and weighing in at only 16.15lbs.

This looks like a very quality product but seems hard to justify on such a new car. Definitely something to consider should the stock plastic unit start to get beat up.

Thanks for making us aware of this item however and thanks for keeping us in the loop on so many great products for our Audis!

Im curious as to the level of protection it provides.

Wouldnt the metal plate slam into the oilpan anyways if you bottomed out?

The stock plastic unit offers virtually no protection against solid objects. Not to mention that your OEM belly pan is plastic as well. Our street shield is exactly that - a shield. It will take the blunt of the impact from bottoming out, or if you happen to run something over that otherwise could crack the weak plastic oil pan.

The street shield solid mounts to the sub frame so it is very well supported. It's not rated for offroad use, but should be able to withstand the majority of the situations you would encounter daily driving.

Looks good sounds good ... and decent price.

.... I wish the APR carbon fiber intake system was better priced.

My aluminum skid plate was delivered on Wednesday and installed on Saturday. HUGE difference over the OEM plastic cover. The oil pan is definitely a composite material but looks pretty robust but there are some sensors and electrical bits right on the bottom of the engine. Totally exposed. Even my Subaru Tribeca has a full plastic cover. Audi, how hard would it be to make a full cover? Aluminum plate covers everything now. Super easy install. Definitely a quality product. Thanks for making it available to us. 3 thumbs up!!
