ECU Tune....timing

prs3p; I have 2 answers for the poll. For my 2015 S3 (sold), i had my Stage 1 tune about 5000 miles on the odometer. Eventually went up to Stage 2+. Flawless. For my current RS3, got my APR Stage 1 tune at 750 miles. Partly because it was on sale 20% off and partly because I know I wouldn't push it until after 1000 miles away. At 1250 miles now and enjoying the package considerably. Give it time. Sure you'll get more responses.

A month or so after I got my APR Stage 1 tune, an update came out. Going in tomorrow to get the update from my nearest APR rep. One thing that everyone seems to be looking for is elimination of the mild lag. My S3 had none. However, understand the larger turbo on the RS3 over the S3 seems to induce minor lag or hesitation. Have learned to live with it but people are hoping it can be tuned out. Perhaps and eventual TCU tune might help. No regrets on getting a tune and my Audi dealer/service department is mod friendly. THAT is often the most critical part of the decision.

From the salesman at my dealership I am getting a luke warm feeling...he didnt say no but he also didnt say yes.... It kind of depends on a situation is what I found out.
Its always a risk.

Need to talk to the service department folks about any mods. There is no reason they cannot work around ECU tunes. As long as the car is running well, there is no need to hook it up to the Audi network. Had my S3 for almost 4 years. 3.5 years with a tune. Car went in only for regular maintenance. Service techs never hooked it up to the network. No reason to do so. No flags, no foul. The Stage 1 tune for the RS3, at least from APR, requires no additional hardware for pretty decent gains. That makes me very happy indeed. S3 required considerable hardware updates to achieve anything really. Hoping the update today might smooth out initial drive out with the RS3. My only real compliant. Sort of all or nothing with the car. LOL. Talk to the service reps. Anyone with a sports sedan/sports car from Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, etc are looking to tune and gain some HP. Not every dealership can refuse that. They would lose a lot of customers I think. I'm only requested to remind them when I bring in my car for service.
