Default A few questions on the RS3

Hello,

been going back and forth with regards to getting an RS3 next year or a RWD sports car + beater

I noticed a few items that may concern me:

Brakes and tires - I see a bunch of threads related to the brakes only lasting 10-15k miles and costing $1k to replace. similar to the tires. Are they really this bad? I could understand tires wearing and probably would replace with all seasons if I got the Dynamic package.

Speaking of tires, if I ordered with Dynamic and got the 255 in fronts and 235 rears, is it OK to get 255 all around (or 235, 245)? since the non dynamic has all 235?

I think the wheels are 19" and they seem to provide no sidewall (30 series)

wheels:

Does anyone run something like 255/40/18 or 255/35/18 for some more meat? would they fit? New Jersey roads blow. I do see some 18" topics. I would try and find some kind of rotary forged wheel paired to like Continental DWS tires - used the DWS on my past 2 cars and they lasted me like 30-40k miles even on a sports car like 370Z. Pure forged seem to cost like $7k lol

if I kept stock wheels, have there been any issues with them breaking and would I need a wheel/tire warranty? I also have seen a bunch of topics about bubbles in tires, etc

Purchasing:

My order spec would be a completely base maybe a special color like Ara Blue and the dynamic package.

Are there any discounts available? I see the ACNA membership provides 6% but RS3 excluded. Maybe I should join anyway? anyone seeing discounts on ordered? Hopefully there will be some on lots in late 2019/early 2020. I guess this is just a special model and I won't be seeing large discounts like a Giulia or Jaguar lol. BTW in a giulia now lease ends next year got a huge discount and love the car. but itching for more power! haha

Have 22K miles on mine and brakes are fine, squeaky but fine, granted they’re the Carbon Ceramics so they should be fine for 100K miles if not tracked. Have the dynamic pkg too so wider fronts than rears on 19’s. OEM tires lasted two years but thats also with them being swapped out for snows every winter. Just put new summer tires on new wheels and now running 265/35 front and 245/30 rear and they work great. Ive never had a tire last as long as the warranty period so I usually end up replacing them and get a prorated warranty credit. Needless to say Im harder on tires than most and I don't care if they last 35000 miles. Used to run Toyo RA1’s on my old car and was stoked if they made it to 8k miles. Prefer grip over tire life. But these are all wear items and shouldn't have any bearing on the car. I use the stock wheels for my winter tires and they’ve been fine too. Actually nailed a huge pot hole this last winter and just knew I cracked a wheel, nope, they were fine...
