I should have paid more attention when I was with the car in Germany, but was having too much fun driving.... Can anyone tell me how the front license plate mount is installed on the RS3? Is the mounting plate held in by clips, screws, ...? Does it require drilling? If the latter, I'm wondering if I can do what I did on the TT and put heavy duty magnets on the back of the mount and behind the mounting surface on the grille. Don't even know if that is possible on the 3. They just zip tied the Euro plate on while I was there and put the proper mounting plate in the trunk.

Car should be loaded on the Canopus Leader Monday.

What happens in Hawaii if you simply don't mount the front plate? Are the cops there aggressive? I lived in Cali for many years and never had a front plate.

I tired that when I moved here and got pulled over within the first month. Given it happened so quickly, I just mounted the plate and canceled the experiment.

Same. I had a 2006 S4 that I drove in CA for over 6 years with no front plate. Never got hassled.
