Gear display while in D or S, anyone?
via VAGCOM.
Anyone figure this out yet, I've found it for other VW/Audi cars but not the 8v.
(yes, I searched, I swear, looked for 2 days. and yes, I can predict that someone is going to paste a link in the post right after this while thinking, 'dufus, even my 8 year-old can google'.)
TIA

not possible. there is no DSG module.
and if you opened the 02Trans module you would see there is nothing there
you will need to get the TCU chip from United Motorsports. (unless you want to get APR bricked)

arU4ic: there has to be a way to do it. There are several TCU tunes available that I've seen (such as from APR) and one of the prominent features is getting the actual gear to display whether in D or S mode. That would be really sweet.

There's got to be a way, since EU and (from what I read) CA models have this feature, without a different TCU. There's got to be a Bit unchecked in a module somewhere.

What may help is to get a VCDS output/scan from mroberte... I'm sure he saved one from his first go-around. With the two to compare, it may help Ross-Tech (or the folks in the forums) pinpoint where this setting may (or may not?) exist.
