Where did you attach the ground?

you have to take off the panel that you only see when you have the door open on the side of the dash. once that's off you will see metal, pained black, that you can sand down and onto which you can attach the ground. I didn't take pictures of this unfortunately.

Mounting Escort 9500xi using BlendMount AUD004 and 12" mirrortap - better solution than running long wire under headliner and down pillar to the fuze box

This is the method I use and it works great! My current car has the 9500ci custom installed system in it.

For anyone that has done mirrortaps - how did you get access to the power. Did you have to pop open the plastic housing where the mirror attaches to the windshield?

Any advice on how to get this off on the 8V A3/S3? I'd be open to trying mirror taps for the first time but don't want to bust my mirror in the process. I honestly wasn't even sure whether we have the right power ports in the A3/S3, given lack of homelink.

I don't have my S3 yet but on all my other vehicles, the connector that plugs into the mirror was exposed and I just wedged the ends of the Mirror Tap in there.

I just wired my 9500 with this and it was one of the easiest things I've ever done on a car.

MirrorTap FTW.
clean
no trace of anything, when you remove it.
you're not fussing with airbags.

Yeah I already had my wire otherwise I would have mirrored tapped. Important to mention though, the install is also clean, no trace of anything when removed, and didn't require fussing with airbags.

Just took a look at mine and no exposed wire. I am guessing it connects through the ball joint. Anyone with experience popping the plastic open to access the the power port?
