Default Is heavy load OK during break-in period?

I believe the max load on the RS3 is about 1000 lbs.
I might be driving few hours away to pick up 400 lbs of floor tiles. Adding 300 lbs for me and my wife gives 700 lbs.

It is not over 1000 but should I avoid doing it?

Thanks in advance.

I can't comment on max load, but when I first read your post, I thought I read that YOU weighed 300 lbs and your wife weighed 700 lbs!

I hope that is not the reason no one has responded so far.

Personally I would think it's fine but I would do a few things to help the situation as much as possible.

1) Make sure the engine is warmed up already (just less strain / stress on it),
2) Make sure you do *NOT* ever lug the engine, and
3) Ensure that the weight is as evenly distributed throughout the car as possible to even out the load / stress on the various car components.

OR you could just borrow a friend's truck. ;-)

I was thinking that last choice is the best one. I wouldn't use the RS3 for hauling stuff.

I just found out my car is stuck at Emden. Two boats had deaparted since my car arrived at the port. The next ride is delayed due to the hurricanes.
It is probably another 4-5 week wait. I guess I have to use the Q5 to pick up the tiles.

If the RS is your only car, then I could see it, but if you have a Q5... isn't this kind of thing you buy a SUV for?

I was hoping to use the 500-mile round trip to do engine break-in while making the trip more enjoyable.
