Default homelink solution?

can someone tell me why this WOULDNT work as a way to get aftermarket homelink in an S3? the same company lists a homelink mirror on amazon.com but when I emailed them they said they dont sell to the public anymore although they did supply some good pictures of the mirror install options. the mirror would block the rain sensor or make it inoperable according to them obviously a no go. feedback is welcome. maybe this will solve our problem.

Although the lack of homelink has been a major compliant from all of us here, folks seem to have taken different routes to remedy the issue. Some have come up with brilliant ways to incorporate an opener into a blank button on the car or add a button somewhere with the actual opener hidden. I did this on my last car. But I simply have a small remote opener and it sits on the rubber pad in front of my minimalist cup holders. Doesn't bother me anymore. Wish you luck in finding a solution.

I'm with Fixeroh. I don't miss Homelink at all because my opener is small enough to rest securely right on that little rubber strip. What I do miss on my fairly base 1.8 A3 Cab is Advanced key. Almost two months after leasing my A3 I still sometimes sit with my key still in my pocket and then awkwardly have to dig it out. Just couldn't find an A3 with the Premium package and not thousands of $ of other packages/options I didn't want. But once I turn the key, I'm good :-)

I mounted a small opener on the inside lip of the console armrest. Since other controls are there its perfectly natural to reach under the lip to open and close the door. I velcroed it in. A $39.00 fix

Audi amazingly called my for my survey (i'm surprised they had time).
I mentioned how the MMI should have a chamberlain app to auto my garage door. My phone can do it easily. I think that would solve most peoples issues. Also disappointing there are not more apps for MMI, locks stocks, etc

closure. I had the dealer install my oem audi homelink and it was painless and simple once the regional service rep arrived with a tool to punch [what the salesman told me...] holes to mount the unit in the roof. works like a charm. perfect fit. decent price for the install as far as I am concerned. if you want to get the oem part then get it from europrice. you wont be sorry.
