How to mirror your phone on the MMI screen
 

Parts needed:

1 MMI A/V cable
3 male to male AV connectors
1 HD to AV convertrr
1 HDMI cable
1iPhone to HDMI

Basically I mention how I got my MMi cable on Amazon for about 20$. Got an extra small charge cable for the hdmi to av converter. And a right angle HDMI cable.


Portrait mode looks terrible and too small but landscape looks great. On my iphone it defaults to landscape when watching movies etc. I can even lock the phone while watching youtube and the video will still play perfectly fine.
Decided NOT to mount it in the car. And just use it when I want to.

cool mod and with VIM unlocked its a must have.

Awesome, planning on doing this as soon as my car gets delivered in a week or two. How did you get your VIM unlocked?

You might want to provide additional info on how the the converter is powered (can't tell from the photo). Also, is the phone charged via the converter?
By the way, a small clarification: it's an AMI A/V cable (not MMI).

The phone will NOT charge with the AMI A/V cable.

The converter is USB powered. It comes with the usb cable but its a generic cable so you can order a smaller version if you want less wires. About a foot and a half of HDMI would be about right.

Looks like they are sold out now. Super happy I did this a while ago. Just plugged in the dongle the screen went up and down (restarted MM). Was surprised it worked.

sure- looks great ion L/S mode. (which it defaults too when watching movies)

Does the 6" charging cable come with the HDMI converter box?

Could you please post a link to the HDMI converter from Amazon? There are a lot and just want to make sure I get the right one
