How Much Do You Add @ Oil Change - 2.0 TFSI
A question for those who change their own. After carefully removing as much oil as possible (down to bubbles) I added 5 -3/4 qts. (in steps). The dipstick reads 1/4 down from full with engine cold. Manual says to check with engine warm, so I will see later. When dealer changes the oil, dipstick reads 1/4 down with oil hot. So is he shortchanging a bit? What do you see?

With any car I have owned, I always add about 1/2 a quart less than the capacity, drive it a bit, check it, and top it off if needed. In my younger days I used to replenish with the full capacity amount and one time ended up with way too much oil in the engine. Since then, i’ve always under filled it a bit to avoid doing that again.

Update. With warm/hot engine, dipstick indication dropped very slightly as expected, but too hard to accurately determine. So I had added 5 qts./ 30 oz. total fresh oil and dipstick read full with cold (all drained down) oil. Conclusion: best to measure when cold and just add the full 6 qts.
