I'm so glad my S3 does NOT have the A4's gear selector setup

I'm not saying the mechanical linkage a la s3 is bad just that there are distinct advantages to having electronic shifters which is why they're more or less the industry norm in this car segment. I also feel that there are way more important things to be complaining about than the shifter. Once you've figured out how the shifter works you'll forget you ever had an issue with it.

It's definitely different from the traditional gear shifter, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Had a BMW with a similar electronic shifter for about 4 years before the S3 and it becomes second nature pretty fast.

I agree with the shifter comments but the other thing that I found difficult compare with the S3 was the placement of the MMI selector being in front of the shifter. I suppose I just find the location on the S3 more natural as I felt I sort had to hang over it on the A4 I was driving.
