Inspection Due Reset - 2016 A3
Hi All,
I recently picked up a 2016 A3 for my wife, 2.0 quattro. It’s a great car. We haven’t had it long and the inspection due warning says we have 24 days left. I have reviewed the service history and am confident in it’s good condition. Would really like to fix this without going to an Audi dealer.
How can we reset this? I have seen the vcds units. Is there a recommended unit you all use and possibly a write up on the subject? Hoping you all can help me out. Sorry for the noob question, looking forward to becoming an Audi enthusiast.

Frank, the Service Due warning can be reset via VCDS and a couple other tools. Maybe you can track down your local VCDS person ?

If your needs are likely to remain relatively simple Carista works well enough. You can sign up for a short time for a reasonable fee and reset the inspection reminders. You can also perform basic modifications from the menu within the app. It's not a full on VCDS but it gets the job done.

In the MMI, you can reset the oil change alert, but not the inspection due one. Frankly it really ticks me off that I have to see this alert every time I start my car, but I refuse to buy a third party tool or pay the Audi dealer to reset it. The fact that the inspection due message can not be reset from within the MMI is ridiculous. This is one of the few things I don’t like about my car.

MMI cannot reset Service Due alert on my 2015 S3. Easy on my VCDS but overkill (price) compared to basic OBD scanners f all you want to get is ability reset and run the OBDII test. I find it useful and something of an enhancement to minor hobby if you already do some troubleshooting. For example it can read the cam shaft adaptation phase position and by comparing to the design value an estimate of chain stretch is possible (but probably as a trend rather than an absolute value)

To answer my own question, yes it does. The OBD11 basic has a lot of useful functions. If you want to change any internal settings like seat memory functions and mirror functions, or turning off the AutoStart, you need the pro.
