Default Key not Recognized

Had a low battery warning for my keyfob, so I replaced the battery.
The keyfob still works as a remote, but the car won't recognize it anymore as the correct key for the ignition and it won't start with it.
Any reprogramming instructions are directed at the remote lock system, not the ignition.

Any ideas here other than an expensive dealer visit?
I am operating off of my wife's key now.
Thanks

Strangely enough, I cycled the battery in and out of the key a few more times and it started working spontaneously.
Who knows....
