I was going to update my maps. I've only had my car for 6 days but when I downloaded the update file from Audi's website it was 8KB.

Does it know how up-to-date my maps are and only download the updates for it? That's the only thing I could think of for the file size being so small. Maybe they updated it at the dealership and there was 8KB of updates. Still seems really small though.

My car also has the AT&T 4g, so not sure if it's kept up-to-date that way either.

When I did it, the file I got from the Audi website was the initial file needed to download the actually update to an SD card. I opted for the full map update which was about 15gb if I remember correctly. Then I plugged in my SD card to the MMI and initiated the Update off the SD from there. I don't know how long it took to apply the update exactly cause it does it in the background without hindering the use of the MMI system for anything else (nav, music, etc.) I believe RyanS3 has a post about it on his Intro Thread. (Page 7)

It was because I didn't have Java installed, for anyone else who has this issue. I had to Google the file extension.

Question

Do we get a limited number of map updates from our MyAudi account? Or is it unlimited? My guess is limited...

I think it says on their site you can download the updates an unlimited number of times.

I read somewhere that we will get 5 updates for free. One per year.

It's every 6 months for mine, 5 in total, they count even if you don't download one.

Anyone else have issues installing the downloader? "Unable to launch the application"
