Default Matrix headlights in the US RS3?

In Europe, "matrix" headlights are an option on the RS3, but they are not yet legal in the US. Does anyone know if this is something we could add later, or are there other sensors, etc, that would be needed to make them work? I would love to have matrix headlights.

Simple and short answer here would be no. Outside of the high cost per each headlight (they are different builds than the stock LED units), a lot of ECUs on the car would also have to be programmed and changed for proper functionality.

Yeah that's what I figured... I guess this is the reason to get a 2022 (or whatever year we get around to letting them in)

Ha, yeah pretty much how it goes with tech and cars these days. Always something new on the horizon. The latest being some of the brands tinkering with laser headlights.

The biggest leap forward for us here in the states is going to get our regs out of 1950 and into 2020 era of car specs. Still amazes me that they have not been overhauled to let our vehicles match other regions when it comes to lighting tech and safety.
