Default michelin tyre pressures

Just put a set of Pilot SuperSports on the S3 to replace the original Continentals that lasted almost 25k miles.
They came with a warning that they needed to be inflated to 42PSI - which makes the ride rock hard!
Don't remember having that requirement in the past.
If anyone else is running Michelins, what pressures are you running?

I ran these at 40 front 38 rear, the entire time I drove them (10k miles).

Did you buy them from Tire Rack, as they put that warning on S3 19" tyres on their configurator. I personally run 39-40 F and 36-37 R for up to 3 people and 44 all around for a fully loaded vehicle.

No, I bought them at a local tire shop (here in CA), didn't know about the warning.

Still have original Contis for my 2015 S3 but with swapping between winter and summer sets of wheels/tires, am extending the usefulness of the Contis. However, after discussing the Michelin tires with gents like arU4ic, I've decided to go with the Pilot Super Sports when I do get new summer rubber. Will have to check into that warning but that seems odd to generalize the pressure like that. I was running 39 F and 37 R on my Continentals however. Seemed to give me the best grip and comfort level overall.

They will state 42 PSI for vehicle..... Audi S3 2015 manual specs page 255 for tire pressures for 235/35/19 91Y are 39F and 36R for partial load ( 3 people ) and 44 fully loaded. Door specs now show for Canadian 2017 models 44 psi methinks because most of us do not check air pressures enough for load purposes and for liability issues they only show one pressure now, fully loaded.

They are XL Extra Load tires right? I believe they are required by law to advise you they have to be inflated to at least 42 psi to achieve the extra load rated weight capacity. Otherwise they risk being sued by someone who uses them improperly inflated on their fully loaded Ford Explorer towing the space shuttle.
Similar to the door sticker psi being for full load as we cannot be trusted to understand full and partial load...oh well.

My US Specs 2018 S3 also got that 44psi label on the door without any indication that it's the pressure for fully loaded
