Passengar Airbag warning light is on

Recently purchased a 2016 S3! Just noticed the "Passenger Airbag is off" warning light is stuck on. How do I turn this thing off? Anyone else have the same issue?

What happens when someone is sitting in the front seat?

I don’t enjoy the glow of the light either. I cut out a small piece of sticky back Velcro to cover it full time. Now it’s just a small fuzzy spot on the dash..

If the light is on when a passenger is seated, there's a problem. If it's annoying while driving alone, a 3 inch strip of electric tape worked for me.

It did go away with a passenger. Not sure why this light is necessary. Might do the same and put on electric tape

Did you scan it for Hard/Soft Codes??? (Minor bumps can set off Codes)

Hey there, did you scan it for any codes? My buddies at MyAirbags said:
It should go out as soon as you start the car unless there’s an actual error code. Did they scan it and find any codes?
Shoot back a response...and remember, "Indicator Lights are there for a reason...you may not like them, but they serve a purpose to warn and caution."

It stays on unless a passenger is in the seat and does not go off after the car is started.

Most cars have this warning light. The airbag will only deploy if there is enough weight on the passenger seat to activate the sensor. For many cars that weight is 65 pounds or30 kg. It is recommended that passengers less than that weight travel in the back seat. If the warning does not go off with a heavier passenger or other stuff on the seat there is likely a problem with the sensor that controls whether the airbag will be deployed or not in case of an accident. If there is a problem with the sensor it is likely that you will also see warnings about that on the driver display. I had an intermittent problem that caused a pre-sense failure notice and both the airbag warning light and seat belt warning light to come on. I really had no idea if any of the airbags would work if needed when those lights were on. The problem did show as an error code. Because it was intermittent and the dealer could not duplicate the first time the car was in the shop, no warranty work was done to correct. They reset the computer. When it happened again intermittently Audi covered under my warranty even though once again the dealer could not duplicate. I understand the difficulty in handling some intermittent problems that cannot be duplicated by the dealer. However when the intermittent problem involves a safety system of the car and error code is recorded that points to cause of the problem, I believe Audi should have paid for correction the first time.
