Default Plastic cover came loose from under driver's side footwell?

Hi all,

Strangest thing happened the other day. I go to get in my car, and there's a black plastic piece with 4 long "arms" sitting on the floor in the footwell of the driver's side (its a genuine Audi/VAG part, but a Google search only really shows up that it exists, not its purpose or use).

It appears to have come loose from the area behind the OBD port, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where it belongs. I've attached a photo. Just curious if anyone has encountered this before and knows where it belongs.

Thanks!

I had exactly the same thing happen a few days post delivery. It turned out that that was part of the knee airbag and that in the event of a crash it may have malfunctioned. I would recommend a dealer visit.
