Default RS3 - MPG / MP Tank

So I've put 2300 miles on my RS3 and have filled up 9 times. For a car with such performance I think it get's pretty good mileage, but for a daily driver I think the tank is 1-1.5 gallons too small.

My belief is that a daily driver should be able to go 300 miles between fills and still have 5%-10% range to spare (15-30 miles) in case you get caught out.

I find the car starts telling me to start looking for a gas station at about the 260-270 mile mark. The owners manual says the tank is good for 14.5 gallons. I have been averaging 21 mpg with 50/50 highway/city driving. So if I decide to try and eek out 300 miles I'll only make it with 4.5 miles to spare, a little too close for my comfort.

Has anyone intentionally or accidentally pushed the capacity of the tank. Looking at my fuel logs the best I've done was 288 miles and filled the tank with 13.3 gallons.

For comparison my old car was a BMW 335xi that averaged 21.5 mpg over its life and had a 15.9 gallon tank that I managed to fill over 16 gal on a few occasions and often filled up past the 300 mile mark.

Has anyone fueled up at the 300 mile mark, and how much did you put in?

Here are my stats:
Average MPG: 21.4 (this equates to 310 miles in a tank)
Best MPG 22: (I haven't had any highway only trips)
Average tank fill up amount: 12.83 gallons / 275 miles (36 miles in reserve)

The MPG avg and miles left on the tank are not very reliable. It tells you that based on the avg MPG that you achieved in the lsat 30 miles of driving. If that's the mileage you're getting, its similar to what I get on the RS5. About 275 till I need to fill up. 12.5-13 gallons.

I'm lucky if I get 250 miles out of it. I have yet to see 19 Mpg. I'm usually at 18Mpg. Yes...I Know...heavy foot...

I'm getting just about the same mileage as I did with my 2014 S4. Keep in mind that 60% of my miles are city driving.

Was that mostly using Comfort settings while on the highway (I'm assuming)?
