RS3 Sedan Key FOB Upgrade?
never owned an audi. but i lol'd when i put my rs3 fob down on the table and it looks exactly the same as a friend's base golf.
not that i want to be snooty, but am wondering if we can get a hold of the newer keys and have the dealer program them? I guess we would need to re-cut the physical key as well? is this even possible?

Just be glad that it's not the even older type that has the key pop out (ala switchblade style). My '17 S3 has that old type though you don't actually need to pop the key out. Makes zero sense why they didn't at least make the key like the RS one in your hand (or the one I had for my '14 S4)! My S3 key is identical to the one for my 2006 A3!

Wow, really? I have not seen an RS3 keyfob but my 2014 S4 had one w/o the switchblade mechanism. It looks like the one in the photo above but had an S4 logo instead. You can imagine my surprise when getting a car that is 3 years newer and getting an antique-like keyfob.
Now I'm interested in knowing who has the really old switchblade style versus non-switchblade. I don't want to hijack this thread though, LOL.

Okay, maybe that's not an RS3 in that photo because it looks like an RS7? Perhaps that particular model has the non switchblade style.

Hmm I'm now confused because the RS keyfob in that photo looks identical to my old S4 keyfob. I can tell by the shape that it's identical to my S4. The older switchblade like I was referring is fatter and smaller looking to be able to house the switchblade mechanism.
