Default S3 tidbit

Hey Everyone,

I finished the process of ordering an S3 yesterday. It took me weeks of negotiating with two dealerships to get the payments to where I wanted them. I opted to go with the Prestige package in Daytona Grey. The salesman was surprised that he had that color as an option for a new build and I was pleasantly surprised. I have read a lot about the Daytona Package, and while I love the color, the 19" rims, and can deal with the red calipers, I couldn't pull the trigger on those red seats. Hence why I went another way.

I'm hopeful that the salesman was right and that the car will actually be painted this color instead of forcing me into the pre-determined Daytona package or, a Monsoon Grey.

Has anyone else ordered an S3 in Daytona Grey without getting the Daytona package?

Thanks in advance.

Daytona Grey isn't an available color for the S3. Apparently AoA is only making it available on dealer "demo" cars--these are the ones that come with the Daytona Package:
Daytona Grey paint, 19" wheels w/Magnetic Ride, red brake calipers, etc. The red calipers are only available in the U.S. with this package. The Daytona Grey should be available by standard order but it would be an extra cost item.

That's great. Thanks for the advice. Looks like my order will be fine after all. Now the hard part, waiting.

The brutal part... I couldn't wait, got the red seats... I hated them yesterday, today a little better and my daughter loves them (7)... Maybe next month I won't notice anymore.

Rough news. Got word from the dealer that the Daytona Grey would cost me an extra 3900. So now I'm in a quandary and I've got to pick a new color asap.

What would you do...Monsoon Grey or Panther Black?

If I was bent on getting another gray color car and they were all out of Daytona, then the only logical next step would be monsoon gray which is just a few shades lighter than Daytona.

Did you see this comparison between the two?

... my 2 cents... The monsoon grey (which i have on order) has a very light green tint to it which to me was very appealing.

Default 2015 S3

I ordered an S3 on Tuesday and I can't wait to get. In asking questions and looking at the car at the dealership, I realized that the S3 has a boost indicator where the A3 has a coolant temperature gauge. The S3 has no coolant temperature gauge. I am somewhat dismayed about. Does anyone else see this as a problem?

I'm sure the computer will tell you if you are over heating.

most VAG in driver cluster displays have a place an option to display the oil temperature ( I cant remember if the new A3 I borrowed(for a weekend) had it or not, but the new GTI and new passat have it
