Default S3 vs RS3 handling

So in 2013, I bought my S6. In 2015, we picked up an S3 for my wife. I never imagined how much I would simply love the S3. Now I am looking to downsize from my S6 and the RS3 is high on my list.

I am wondering, however, whether it will feel nose-heavy compared to the S3. I just so love the light, tossable and dynamic feel of the S3. The car will be my daily driver, and I still have my Cayman as a pure toy.

Thoughts?

The aluminum I5 in the RS3 is stated as being lighter and more playful than the iron I4 in the S3.

Between the lighter block, the tuned Haldex (which supposedly sends more power to the back quicker), wider track, and reverse-staggered setup, I would suspect not.

All the reviews would indicate that the RS3 is more neutral than pretty much all other front-engined Audis.

My research indicates that Auto Sport has taken great pains to ensure a superb handling RS3 is available for us. To be more competitive with the M2, M3s, etc. The engine is definitely lighter and the Haldex is biased toward the rear, as mentioned by the others. Don't think you'll go wrong with the RS3. My RS3 is on order for the very reasons described here. :-)

RS3 should handle a lot better than S3 in able to complete with the rivals. I find the 2018 S3 is kind of soft and floaty even with magnetic in dynamic mode. Your Cayman GTS will still be far better in handling than a RS3.

Cayman is rated as one of THE best handling cars in the world. Would love to own one! But mid engine vs RS3 front engine is a no brainer. Can only do so much with Audi MQB platform; good overall as it is. I'm quite OK with that however. Works quite well for me.

As a former Cayman S owner I can vouch for it being a fantastic handling car. I only wish that when I owned mine that it had the PDK option.

Timmay; I failed to note that in your list of retired cars. You've had some nice rides over the years. I'm a government worker and it took me some time to work back into my beloved Audi brand. Saw the S3 and HAD to have one. Selling a kidney wasn't as bad as I thought. :-)

I am the other way around. I love the 6MT in my GT4, it's a real joy.
