Default Screen does not go away when button is pressed new 2018 a3

Hello, just received my 2018 a3. The dealer informed me that the new a3s will only turn the screen off instead of sliding back in the dash. Does anyone know a way to override this and have the button hide the screen again?

Thats strange.
I have 2018 S3 and screen goes away after car being turned off.
Maybe new feature or dealer has no clue

Sorry I should have specified that while the car is on it stays up. When I turn the car off it goes away. I thought the button was supposed to hide the screen while the car is on and not just turn the screen off

Mine goes away after turning the car off also. My friend has a 2017 and his goes away when pressing the button even with the car on. 🤷*♂️

Cars produced starting April 2018 no longer retract the screen until the ignition is shut off. This is due to backup camera regulations.

😫 Has anyone found a way around it to make the button work again?

Man that would be annoying. Sorry OP. There are times where I love retracting the screen - even running CarPlay I can pull up the Media screen on the left side of the virtual cockpit.

I can confirm, the new RS3 I saw at the dealer yesterday, would not retract the secondary screen. I thought something was broken, but glad to see it's meant to be this way.

This is the first I heard of this. Very interesting. Wonder if there is a simple OBDeleven fix for this...or if anyone has done it yet.

I have also heard that when your car goes in for service/updates they will reprogram it to the newer standard.
