Default Stone chip on windshield

Well only 1,000 miles in and I already have a small stone chip on the center of the windshield. Just noticed tonight after washing the car.

My question is, has anyone here used one of those resign fill kits (3M, Lock-tight ect.)? How well did it work in your experience?

It is a pretty small chip so I think I caught it relatively quickly.

Let me know what remedies you all have tried!

As always thanks for the help!

let see pics. otherwise I'd say don't worry about it. I did a Vegas trip after getting my car (about 800miles) and got some minor stone chips as well and a couple in the bumper too.

you can usually get those fixed for free by your insurance company if you have any glass coverage.. as its preventative for larger expense... there's a full service car wash in town that did my last vehicle when they noticed em before I had.

I'd just have insurance put in a new oem windshield.

Yep, happened to me at 800 miles too - ugh - mine started a crack a month later.

id replace now. i just replaced and my windshield repair shop told me that the insurance has to pay for oem glass because there is not another option. as soon as a cheaper "knock off" windshield is availabe, the insurance company will only pay for the cheaper one.

I recommend safelite. They will repair it. Free through most insurance companies. I just had a chip repaired in my BMW, came out amazing. Could not even tell when they were done. Call your insurance company to find out if covered, I would not try to repair it yourself.

Of course oem if you are replacing. My suggestion is repair, if it is 1/2 the diameter of a dime, or less. If larger agree, replace.

FYI, Safelite was able to install AUDI glass for me when they replaced my windshield - they did it perfectly.
