What winter tires are you using?

I installed Dunlop winter force 3D in 235/40/18 on Andros R9’s. Good deal at tire rack and quick bolt on in my garage. Winters where I live in mid Atlantic are unpredictable. Good though to have tires that remain grippy below 40 degrees F.

Well just found out the hard way that Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 245/35 wont fit. They rub when you turn the wheel.
Discout Tire is awesome... they couldnt source the Pirelli Sotto Zero 3 at the time so we gambled on the Michelin. Mounted and installed, saw the rub instantly and they swapped back to my summer tires and then found that the SottoZero 3’s are available again so they’re swapping out Friday. I told them to charge me for the time in mounting and remounting and they said no. Ive dealt with them for years and they’ve always been awesome.

I ordered the Sottozero 3's (235/35/19) at my local Discount Tire last week and hope they soon arrive so I can have them installed on my blade wheels. I too have found Discount Tire to be great to deal with.

Just took delivery of my 2018 S3...had the dealer take off the OEM's and installed Continental DWS06 (245/35/19) before I'd drive off the lot...I will actually use those as my summers also because where I live where i could get a freak snow storm at anytime...once I got home I installed Nokian Hakka 9's studded (235/40/18) on separate rims..winters get to -40 to -50C up here where icy roads are my problem...too cold to snow..

Sounds like the Sottos are the way to go in 235-35/19 all around. Will go ahead and order.
Do do you happen to know what psi you are running?
Do you have the ceramics or regular?

For my S3, I was waffling between Michelin X-Ice3 and PA4 Alpin, leaning toward the X-Ice after several unstoppable winters with the X-Ice2 on my 2008 8P A3 3.2 quattro. Decided to go with the Alpin as most of our roads are pretty decently cleared (Eastern Upstate New York) and I wanted to retain most of the performance characteristics. No snow yet, but so far very happy on cold roads. Quiet, handle well, get about 30 miles less per tankful on gas than summer tires.
