Default Windshield washer fluid?

My washer fluid light came on saying i was low and needed to top off. Wanted to know what fluid you guys use?

i only ask because my wife has a bmw and a year ago the sprayer stopped working on the windshield. BMW says it got cloged because we did not use the BMW brand washer fluid. They did fix for free but said to only use bmw brand so i have ever since. I am not sure if the Audi is the same and if i need to buy a Audi brand fluid for warranty or anything......

I know here are some who staunchly believe you should only use the OEM brand of window washer fluid. However, I've been using the same blue stuff sold everywhere in supermarkets and gas stations for 50 years and 30 cars including four Audis and have never had a sprayer nozzle clog up. Ever.

as long as i can use any for the audi i will. Im not even sure if they make an audi brand fluid. Only reason i buy the bmw one for wifes car is because i had issue in the past and the warned me if it happened again with another fluid they would not cover

Most of the others use some waxy stuff in it. I'm not so sure about the 50/50 mix either though. I think just the normal washer fluid is all that is ever needed.

On a side note about this....Why does Audi feel like if your out of washer fluid...the entire display should be completely dedicated to reminding you that your out of washer fluid...as if you might tear a hole in the universe if you don't fill it right away! It's a huge orange/yellow warning light that won't go away until you fill it! Really? What happens if you don't want to have washer fluid in there?

Then you put up with the light and can't clean your windshield while driving?

Removed post. Story short, don't use Rain-X. See several post below.
