Winter Tire Pressure
Searched the forum but cannot find a good answer for this.
Just put on my winter setup: 225/50x 17 Blizzaks WS-80s on Andros R9 wheels. My summer setup is 235/35x19-inch summer tires which call for 44 lbs all around for a full load.
My question is: What pressure should I use for the 225/50 17s? 44 lbs seems about right to protect the 235/35 19-inch wheels, but seems too high for the 225/50s
TIA

You'll need to see your Owner's Manual for recommendations on small diameter wheels. It's all there!

Former thinking had people using lower tire pressures than recommended during the winter months. Believing lower pressures gave better traction. Current thinking is to set the pressure right at the recommended levels. Better wear on the tires, better mpg, etc. As uberwgn suggested, the manual should indicate the proper pressure for your size tire. Going from a 35 series summer tire to 50 series winter, I imagine the pressure will be in the 32 to 35 psi range.

On the earlier European cars I've owned, they typically showed summer pressure + 4 psi. Tire tech has changed a lot. You're good with the recommended pressure found in the Owner's Manual and possibly slightly lower.
