Default Winter Wheels?

Hello All.

My wife just recently purchased an A3 Premium Quatro.

I have a local person who is selling 16in wheels from VW Bug.
The bolt pattern is 5x100 with a +35 offset.

Will they fit the 2015 A3??

Thank you in advance for the advice.

Even if they would, why would you want to go from an 18" to a 16"? Depending on where you live the all season tires that came with the car should work just fine in the winter...at least they do here in ND.

They would be 17 to 16in.
I don't like compromise tires.
I prefer full snows for winter.

Flagger, welcome aboard! You've got to watch out for brake caliper clearance and there's probably no way to determine without a trial fit.

(I go from a 17" OE wheel to a 16" snow tire/wheel setup on our Avant. There are very few 16" wheels that will fit.)

Thank you for that uberwgn.
I plan to try them before purchasing.

The S3 will fit 17" wheels. The A3 will take 16" wheels no problem. I don't think that VW wheel pattern works. Tirerack.com says 5x112 is needed.

I found a set of cheap wheels (OEM 2009 Audi S4), 5 spoke, 18" with a 5x112 bolt pattern.
I would like to assume these wheels will fit the Audi S3? Does anybody know?

Almost definitely, the 2 stats you need to know on the wheel are offset and width, going with 18" wheels around 8" wide with a 45 offset is around ideal.

Personally I think you're better off going with 16 or 17" wheels, winter tires tend to be more expensive in 18s, 17 is kind of a sweet spot. For the winter season, with the deeper and more numerous potholes you're better off with thicker sidewalls too.

(215x50 R17 tires with Andros R9 wheels) available on tire rack is my personal setup. (Around 500 for the set of 4 wheels)

Antarius,
Thanks for the response.
I found a better set with a 17" wheels (see below).
They are from an 2006-2013 Audi A3 2.0T, 17x7.5",
With a winter tire in place, do I need a longer set of bolts, a different setup, or could this tire be a direct replacement to my 2016 Audi S3 wheel?

Thanks
Regards
