2016 A3 Inside Rearview Mirror Upgrade Help

I bought my wife our first Audi last year for her birthday. Who would have thought a luxury vehicle and a Premier Plus trim level would have not come equipped by default with an auto dimming rear view inside mirror?? I am hoping to upgrade the mirror at this point as it's been an annoyance for her. I have found the part number for our current mirror with the manual dimming flip lever (8S0-857-511-4PK) as well as the mirror WITH automatic dimming that also came in the A3 (8S0-857-511-A-4PK). I have found a few threads that talk about doing the upgrade, some say plug and play, other models talk about running extra wire and/or relays... most accounts of the upgrade were pretty old. Has anyone successfully completed this upgrade with a similar model or year? Suggestions of where to check? I hate to buy the mirror not knowing if it's going to work. Here are some additional details that might be helpful... my current mirror has some wiring (3 wires), maybe for the rain sensor. The car also has a sun roof and rain sensing wipers.
