European models with European delivery?

European models with European delivery?
For those of us who really, _really_ want the 3.2 quattro with a 6-speed, does anybody know if you can order one from Audi for European delivery (or even order outright from audi.de), and bring it back to the US? Presumably it has the same engine and chassis as cars already in this country, so it wouldn't need to have emissions or crash testing...

Thanks, but is that true for the A3q6?
Thanks, that helps, even if it wasn't the answer I was hoping for. Does it make a difference that the car I'd be importing would have the same body as a car in the US, the same transmission as a car in the US, the same engine as a car in the US, just that it uses a transmission from one car in a different car? If people are allowed to drop Chevy V8's into old Jaguars, shouldn't this be cake?

That engine/tranny combo is not sold here, so it most likely will need to be tested.
The manual transmission used in the Front Trak 2.0T won't be the same as what is used in a QTR 3.2. Obviously you need a power take-off for the awd. Even gear ratios are likely to be different.
Basically you'd have to buy a Euro spec car, paying Euro prices, then bring it here and get ready for emissions testing, converting bumpers, lights, etc. Set aside another $8K to $15K.
Yes, people do convert old Jags, but you won't get a bank loan on that car, or have full coverage insurance. If you state has emissions requirements, that will present more problems unless the car is old enough to escape testing.

government requirements

Looks like 3.2Q will be hitting US showrooms in December...
see link, and i think i also saw this info on audiusa.com somewhere.
so you might be better off just being one of the first people to get it here...

klick
