Default HPFP Cam Follower

New to the forum. First post.

I drive a 2006 A3 2.0T FWD 6MT. I bought in in 2013 with just under 100K miles. Shortly after purchasing, I had the timing belt, water pump, etc. done. I learned of the HPFP cam follower issue soon after. So I replaced it around 110K or 115K miles. I did the job myself and was able to save the old follower. I replaced the original, worn thru follower, with a replacement from ECS Tuning. Fast forward another 100K miles and I finally carved out time to check the 2nd cam follower here at 215K miles...

I'm highly impressed with the replacement part from ECS Tuning!

In the picture you'll see the original follower taken out at 115K miles on the left and the replacement follower from ECS Tuning at 215K miles on the right.

What's been your experience with HPFP cam followers?

How concerned should I be about the timing belt, water pump, etc. here another 100K miles down the road, sitting at 215K now?

Thanks!
Matt

What symptoms were you experiencing for you to swap the follower?

I would always replace timing belt and drive items (rollers ,pumps etc) every 60-80k miles. The followers, there are guys who replace them every 30k miles. Yours looks remarkably good for 100k miles. Was your intake cam replaced when you replaced that holed follower??
