P0442, P0420 and P0456
Hi all, this is my first post here. I went to look at a 06 A3 2.0T today for my wife. It is in nice shape and drives well. It has 130k miles.
The issue is that it has three check engine codes: P0442, P0420 and P0456
I have been doing a bunch of research and the 442 and 456 look like they are pretty easy to fix (gas cap, evap valve, or diverter valve).
The 420 is clearly related to the catalytic converter.
I'm wondering though if the first two codes may be causing the 420 code. If the car is running too rich due to a evap leak then post-cat o2 sensor reading my be off.
Has anyone dealt with anything similar to this? I'm interested in the car but don't really want to replace the cat.
FYI, the car has to pass emissions in PA so just ignoring the codes is not an option.
Thanks in advance.
