Programming remotes on a 2006 A3
Not much traffic in this forum but I'll give it a shot.
I bought a 2006 A3 for my daughter. It came with two remote/keys, which both start the car and physically unlock the car. Neither remote works for keyless entry.
Checked the batteries, both have fresh batteries.
Tried the reprogramming with one key in the ignition, adding the other, no joy.
With VCDS, it shows one key. I was able to adapt, and change the number to 3 (using 2 had no effect). Doing so, I am able to add each remote and when pressing the remote I get a quick flash of the turn signals on the car, but after this process I still can't get either remote to work.
Any other ideas?

Just to close my own thread, I spent a lot of time on the Ross-Tech forums and tried everything. In the end, my solution was to:
- buy a used remote from eBay that matched my part number (and frequency)
- verified I can pair the new remote using VCDS
- took the new remote apart, as well as my old remote
- reassembled the old slotted key, old immobilizer (looks like a small tic-tac), with the new(er) remote board and case
