Default Radar Detector Hardwire

I purchased an Escort X80 radar detector along with the Escort Direct Wire SmartCord. It’s very simple to install the hardwire however I do not know what wire or power source to tap in to under the dash. Can anyone give me some guidance on what to do here? I’m not too concerned about it being a power source that turns on and off with the car, however if it is I am ok with that too. I appreciate any help that can be offered. I am pretty new to doing this kind of stuff on my own, I usually just take it to a shop and pay someone else to do it. I think it’s time I learn how to work on my own car. Thanks again.

Get a Littlefuse "add-a-circuit" fuse holder. This plugs into any socket on your fuse panel, while providing 2 slots -- one for the original circuit and one for the add-on circuit, to power your extra device. So you can choose an accessory circuit that is either on all the time or powered only when the car's accessory mode is on.
