Following on from my posts on fibre optic the second hand Tuner works except it drops sound every other second also the car has B&O and when the tuner is in the fibre optic loop and working some of the B&O menus are not displayed on Audio menu
It makes me think Tuner needs coding the old unit was fried so i cant access it
Any ideas please

Yes, replacing the J794, radio, or J525 will require "component protection" to be reset using ODIS. It would appear the MMI 3G radio unit's CP exhibit is what you experience, audio drop out. As for setting the coding, usually the only bit that varies is the "internal amp / external amp" bit. But setting the long coding is a task easily done with ODIS as well. Whatever the minimum labor unit is at a capable shop or dealership should correct the situation.
