Default A5 running rich

Hi there would anyone have a suggestion to my problem. Here goes my car has been running very rough for a while engine idles very poorly and shakes at low rpm also bucks a bit under 2000rpm and poor fuel economy and hard start have to accelerate to start. Seems to run worse after 20miles of driving, had the code p2188 (rich at idle) pop up at first. Since then spark plugs coil pack injectors oil filter in the tank Both o2 sensor camshaft sensor and mass airflow have all been changed, and still running rough I was told than the cat looked pretty clogged up by Audi, would this still cause these problems not sure I’m willing to spend anymore cash on it, if the problem will still urcur. I ask this as two Audi specialist could not find the main cause. Unless it is the cat. Any advice welcome thanks John

John, you should let people know what engine, how many miles? Has the car been problematic? Has it ever run right since your ownership? Etc..

2010 2L tfsi, have had no problems since I’ve owned it for the last couple of years, mileage is around 100,000 now.

My first stop would be to have the car scanned with the VCDS tool. You'll get more quality information.

I searched on that code you mention. People are replacing the high pressure fuel pump to cure this issue. Have you searched at all?

I have read on a few forums that people have changed them. Would you know if a certain code would pop up to indicate that it is a fuel pump is failing. Most of the time it is the same code that pops up p2188.
Thanks for the reply.

John, I don't have any experience trouble shooting this particular isseue, sorry. Again, getting a comprehensive VCDS scan may provide additional high quality clues.

Default Fuel problem sorted?

Hi mate, just come across your post from 2019 and just wondering if you got your Audi A5 issue sorted? I am having a similar problem with my A5, 2012, 2.0TFSI (55K). Intermittent fault whereby I experience juddering upon start up. Sounds like it's miss-firing. Sometimes it just sorts itself out and it drives fine. However, today it's the worst it has been. It starts up but judders a lot and then just cuts out. Just wondering if yours was the high pressure fuel pump in the end? I've been to a couple of garages, one said all 4 injectors needed replacing, someone else said it was the HPFP?!

Would welcome any comments you might have. Thanks for your time.
