I had a 2014 S5 convertible which I loved, but totaled Replaced it with a 2014 SQ5, which is a great vehicle but not a convertible. Did not think I could find another S5 as clean as the one I killed (Prestige with really low miles) so I started looking at alternatives and of course BMW was at the top of the list. A lot more used BMW convertibles available than Audi's. Drove 2014-2015 4 series convertibles and 2 series convertibles both in rear and all wheel drive configurations. Liked them both. More visceral drive than the Audi's and the technology was much better than the S5 and SQ5. Interior was busier than on the Audi's but still attractive in monotone versions, especially the ones with contrasting stitching on the seats. S5 had a much more luxurious, forgiving ride. 4 series still had a usable trunk even with the top down. However on both BMW's the shoulder belt was digging in to my shoulder and I remember the same issue with a 650i convertible I had in the past. So the BMW's were out from my perspective.
Is OP looking for new or used? New S5 have turbo engine and upgraded more user friendly MMI. Even though I voted for BMW, I was thinking used. If we're talking new I would lean towards the S5.

I vote for the S5.
I have owned my BMW 330Ci 6 speed manual for a few years now & it is a REALLY fun car, without a doubt! ...but........
Today, I test drove a 2013 S5 and OMG... I'm SOLD!
It might be that being a 56 year old guy, I just want to DRIVE and not have to deal with shifting gears myself and dealing with the issues we all have heard about
BMW, but this S5 is AMAZING! The S5 has the luxury and sportiness that I wanted. About staying loyal to the BMW brand??? OH WELL... It's been real!
