Default RS5 Dynamic/Individual

Anyone know on the individual setting ( if i set the engine/transmission to dynamic) why the shifting seems the same as in Auto mode? i know tapping down on the shifter activates sport mode, but shouldn't the engine/transmission set to dynamic (in individual mode) default to sport shifts? In my individual mode, i always start out in 'D'. I need to tap down to get to 'S'.

Thanks

Is this when you first turn on the car after having shut down in individual mode? The car has to start out in D no matter what mode is selected. I would imagine that after you start the car if you cycle through drive modes and get back to Individual the transmission should be in "S"?

When I start in dynamic, the "S" mode is automatically enabled. If I go to individual from there, then "S" mode remains. If I start out in individual, then "D" is default. I am wondering if the "engine/trans" dynamic setting in the individual mode is separate from "S"? We can switch to "S" from any mode. I was trying to make my individual mode essentially dynamic without the steering or suspension.

That shouldn't be the case. For regulatory reasons, the transmission always starts in D after having shut off the engine and restart it. Car manufactures are essentially required to start the powertrain in the mode that yields the certified fuel economy. In exchange, they are allowed to have optional sport modes etc. that are less fuel efficient, but need to be deliberately engaged by the driver. They are not allowed to engage sport/dynamic mode directly after engine start.

I was wrong, everyone else was correct. All modes start in D including Dynamic when starting the car for the first time. what an idiot. I thought it was different on the S5.
