Default Smartphone Interface (Android Auto) not available

I purchased my car (A5 2019) 2 weeks back and after trying as I may, discovered that I am missing smartphone interface that enables this feature.
  • Does smartphone interface not come as a standard option?
  • Is it possible to retrofit/retro-enable smartphone interface?
  • Am I fresh out of luck here?
Any enlightenment into the above would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Android Auto is standard on the A5.

You have to connect your phone to the car's Bluetooth, then plug in your phone to the USB jack.

I also had to change the USB connection on my phone after plugging in, from "USB Charging" to "USB Tether" (from the pull down notification on the phone).

You may also have to go in the connection manager and select your phone under the smart phone section.
