2013 A5 Convertible - Extended Warranty Tips?
Good afternoon!
I just bought a 2013 Audi A5 Convertible Cabriolet. I'm excited about the experience of driving and taking care of this outstanding car. The car has 80,000 miles on it and is no longer under warranty. I've shopped around for warranties and they are mostly in the $6,000 - $8,000 range for around 46K miles (bumper to bumper). I take care of my vehicles and follow the maintenance schedule, but things happen. Any advice on warranties? Should I shop specific warranties? If so, what are the most important parts of my Audi to warranty?
Thank you AudiWorld community for any advice you are willing to share!

Hey Welcome. I'm sure you'll enjoy the A5 cab this summer. As for warranty, only the manufacturer can offer a warranty. Since this is not a CPO, you're likely shopping SERVICE CONTRACTS. These 3rd party service contracts are pricey and filled with "gotcha" clauses. None are bumper to bumper and you'll only find that out when you make a claim. I would personally skip these and bank the 6K to 8K and preferably research a good independent Audi repair shop. Again, that's only my opinion, but I've had several Audi's and never considered an after warranty expiration, service contract.

I bought my 2013 S5 with 8k miles and a 7/70 warranty was ~$1100 I believe....well this week I actually had to use it for the first time as I had the water pump go. I plan to keep the car until the warranty runs out, but in your case the higher cost may not justify the peace of mind. I would find a solid Indy mechanic and if the car was well maintained you might be OK without.

Thank you both for your quick feedback. That is some great advice. My buddy gave me a referral to a good import mechanic here in town. I think that's a good route to go.
