Default Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires

I switched late last summer from the stock Pirelli P-Zero's to the Michelin Pilot Super Sports and I am amazed how much better the steering feel, braking and overall handling is now. What are most of you using as replacement tires? I would highly recommend this tire.

I purchased these for use with my Harmann 20" titanium wheels.

I used the 265-30-20 tires as recommended by Harmann.
These provide an exceptional ride and great handling through corners. Good in the wet, not snow. Mileage is pretty much the same as the stock 18" tires (MPS3) and wheels.

Switched to Mich Pilot SS on the Porsche when the tires needed replacing. Loved em. So when my PZeros needed replacing on the 458 Spider I got the Pilot SS. Fantastic. Great summer tire. Much better than PZeros.

Best

I concur.

I ran Michelin PS2s on all my cars until the PSS came out. I lucked out in that I've been running the PSSs on all my cars and haven't been affected by the back order issue.

I track my S5 and the PSSs are phenominal on the street and on the track regardless of the weather, wet or dry (as long as the ambient air temp is high enough).

The only downside is that I got about 20K miles on the super sports before they were gone...Trying Hankook V12 K102-s now to see, if they last longer...

I run with Briodgestone RE-11's both on this car and my Cayman S. Definitely one of the best performing summer tires on the market. But of course tread life is an issue - I don't expect to get more than about 10-12K miles on them, as opposed to 25K that I got on the OEM Dunlops. As for Michelin PSS - they advertise a very high tread life (rating of 300), and lauriv's experience seems to prove that out. The downside though is that the tread is bit harder in order to get that long life, which means they aren't quite as sticky as the RE-11's or other ultra performance tires such as Yoko Advan AD-08's or Dunliop Direzza ZII's.

These are on my S5 right now.

Fantastic tires. Read the European reviews. You'll have to think outside the box with these as they are not your known Michelins, Pirelli, Conti's and not available at Tirerack.

I replaced the OEM P-Zeros after 8K miles with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Their performance is just outstanding from increased cornering grip and stronger braking to quieter highway cruising. Launch control could easily overwhelm the Pirellis (which was kinda fun to feel the torque moving around trying to find a wheel with grip) but not the Michelins. They just hook up and go. It took a chilly 19F morning before launch control got them to slip. I've only put 4K miles on them so it's too early to comment on overall tire life.

If anyone needs a new set of Pilot Sport AS3 tires let me know or check the classifieds. Great tire and priced to sell. Brand new. Never even mounted.

I've heard they're great, a lot of the Shelby guys have switches to those from the Goodyear F1s which are like ice. I'm planning on putting those on my Shelby this fall and the Audi when I need to replace the Pirellis.
