Default New winter tires

Got the winter threads put on last week. 18" Blizzaks with rims from tirerack. The ride is amazing. Not as much road noise as I thought there would be. With less rubber on the road its easier to steer the car. Bumps and potholes are also less dramatic. Couple days later we got hit with a dusting of snow, not enough to test out the tire capabilities, but enough for me to see that these tires have a ton of grip. I don't say this often, but I can't wait for a good snowfall!

Quattro in the snow with a good set of winter tires is fantastic. You'll have fun slaloming around all the SUVs with all-season tires!

I'm stoked too! Enkei Raijin (18x8) w/ Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s.

Hrmmm.. the tire looks a little under-inflated in that pic, which begs the question.. What pressure should I be going for? Max on the tire is 51psi. I think [very cold] they are around 35psi now. Should I use the same cold pressure from the door sill?

Yes, follow the pressure recommendations on the door sill. And just to confirm - since you have 18" rims the tire size is 245/40R18, correct?

Correct on the tire size. As for the rims, TireRack does not list them on the site, but lists all kinds of other Enkei rims with the same size/offset. 18x8 +35mm Sure enough, the Raijin's fit fine.

Yeah, I'm going to spend some quality time with my bike pump and tire pressure gauge this morning before work.

No. Rims from JRP in Mississauga (QEW&Winston Churchill), tires from Jensen Tire (roughly same area in Oakville).

Thanks bilbo.

I noticed you have the awe installed as well. As far as I know Pfaff Tuning is the only local dealer around town that sells the kits.

How does it sound. Any drone

No, not really. There is one sweet spot for bass/vibrations that might irritate someone, but certainly not me. The sweet spot is 100 to 120Km/h in 6th or basically the 2700-3000 rpm band. As I've said in other posts, turn up the radio a bit and the exhaust note gets drowned out.

Other than that, I'm happy with it.
