Default 2016 S5 Air Box Modifications

2016 S5 Air Box ModificationDoes anyone know the diameter of the plugged up hole on the bottom of the 2016 Air Filter Box.. I am looking to cut it out and
install a flex hose to the area behind the passenger head light, to let in a little more air to my high flow aFE filter. It looks to be about
3 inches...if you have done this mode. Can you tell me where you got your hose...Thanks..Not Sure..Austin, Tx

When I had my airbox out to install my filter kit, I cut out the plugged hole. (Sorry don't remember what size it was. I had a hole saw on hand that was the right size.) I don't think it is worth anything to run a tube anywhere. The majority of the air is still going to come through the front hood duct. The plugged hole is away from any engine heat and there is plenty of outside air circulating there when the car is moving. A tube is not going to draw in anything more.

Please don't do it. You'll just introduce hot engine bay air which will diminish performance. There's more then enough cold air supply through the oem duct. Just keep the thin filter screen clean that's located near the front of the ducting. I remove mine regularly and rinse it out with luke warm water.

Have you considered this? - https://www.awe-tuning.com/awe-tunin...-intake-system

I have their silicone hose with a K&N filter in the oem airbox. The replacement of the oem accordion type hose with the smooth silicone one may improve air flow speed.

I gutted my stock air intake. There is a fiberglass muffler material inside that I used needle nose and snips to dig out. Then I cut the moisture capture pod (or whatever the the hell the little box attached to the rear of the pipe is) and plugged it with a PVC plug from Home Depot and sealed around it. Then did the old school air box flip and cover removal. It sounds amazing with the same SC whine as a $300 intake. It may have the poser look but I don't care. It serves my purpose of a great sounding/higher flow intake.

Default I'm looking into this from ECS Check it out!

This is the only thing I've seen that extends further and tucks behind the grill which seems like it would be great. It works with both ECS Tuning intake systems as well as the OEM system. May be compatible with other aftermarket systems that don't modify the factory air scoop or protrude past the core support. A5/S5 owners require notching out a single rib on the back of the OEM grille and it wont work with the APR Coolant Performance System for the B8 S4 as the heat exchanger is too tall and comes in contact with the air scoop.

Here is a link to the ECS page if your interested in more info.
